Midwesterner (US) - liberal since before that was a disparaging term. Agnostic. Try to be open-minded enough to listen to all sides, and consider them, especially if the discussion can remain civil.
A few questions everyone should ask themselves is this:
-Do I ever read any information that doesn't reinforce my beliefs that party A is bad and party B is the only hope for humanity?
(f the answer is "No, never," then you either need to increase the depth, breadth and scope of your reading or work on your critical thinking skills).
-If I read something critical of my belief system, does the source automatically have no credibility?
If the answer is "Yes, always!" - then try to find articles from as many perspectives as possible, even the ones with limited or no credibility (in your opinion) and try, again, to work on your critical thinking skills.
