June 23, 2006, 3:53 p.m.I'm still ashamed of the Dixie Chicks!
They would be better off to keep their political leanings in the closet and make music.
Who gave celebrities the position of political pundit? What makes Natalie qualified to speak on international policy? A microphone in her hand? I don't think so.

June 23, 2006, 5 p.m.A number of people feel the same way about celebs and politics. My take is that everyone has a viewpoint and the Dixie chicks, sringsteen and others celebs views are just as important as say Bill OReily, Ann Coulter and others. Its just an opinion...get over it. We all should have em. Embrace it!

June 23, 2006, 6:21 p.m.That's right. At least Natalie is speaking out for what she believes, as opposed to that bitch, Ann Coulter, who's only interested in getting attention...

June 26, 2006, 4:59 a.m.When I first read the headline I thought they had personal hygiene issues... until I remembered the furore in the States about this a few years back.

June 27, 2006, 12:27 a.m.I don't think celebrities have an obligation to speak their political minds, but I also don't think that they should have to keep them quiet.
Whether you like what some of them have to say, free speech applies to them too, and yes, they _do_ happen to have microphones, for better or worse. If Bob Dylan never said anything about the social or political state of things, his music would have been pretty boring. And while the Dixie Chicks are a far cry from Dylan or Crass or whoever, more power to them.
Granted, it doesn't hurt that I'm also from Texas and sometimes feel the same way.

June 27, 2006, 12:30 a.m.I think if you are in a position of public exposure you not only have a right to speak your mind politically but you have a responsibility to speak politically. Thank you Dixy Chicks for doing your civic duty, using your position in the public eye to foster public dabate on issues that mater. How very patriotic of you.

July 5, 2006, 9:55 a.m.The Dixie Chicks need to shut up and entertain people after all that's what they and other "Entertainers" get paid for!And as for George Bush and Ann Coulter; They also speak up for what they think is right!I wonder what would happen if the Dixie Chicks went to another country like Iran or Syria and bad mouthed their government? I sure would like to find out! Go for it Dixie Chicks!!!!

July 7, 2006, 10:54 p.m.LOL! Conservatives only want those that agree with them to have freedom of speech. Very interesting.

Sept. 13, 2006, 5:57 p.m.I believe everyone has the right to voice their views and opinions, but I don't think it's right to mix it with entertainment. When I go to a concert, I don't want to be preached to. That takes the fun out of going there in the first place. As it's been said all over the USA...just SHUT UP AND SING!

Sept. 13, 2006, 6:18 p.m.Since what was said over seas. I haven't heard one of there songs. I have 3 girls. They know that there music is not allowed in my home. They lost millions. And they deserved it. How can you have a patriotic fan base and say those things and think its OK. They will never be the same. And their fame will probably continue to lead them outside of our great land. I say " If it gets them off our great land let em. As long as there not here who cares.

Oct. 22, 2006, 3:48 a.m.I had never listened to any of their songs before they made that comment. It brought them a whole new group of fans. Those of us who are not sheep, that question the wisdom or lack of it of an unjust war.
I found their music to be exceptional and it made me go and buy another of their CDs. I am a die hard fan now and their political stance only makes them more appealing to many of us who dare to question why send our sons to this war?
They may have lost some die hard right winger country fans but there are plenty more who appreciate good music and free speech. The country is turning BLUE again and I can't wait to see all the corrupt bible thumpers go down. I am a Christian by the way, but those hypocrites are going to be sent packing!
Patriotism is to support your country, not the President. Disent is the highest form of Patriotism. BTW, the Emperor has no clothes on. Maybe someone needs to point that out to him.

Feb. 16, 2007, 12:19 a.m.Ok heres what im ******ed about. You idiots who think the dixie chicks are wrong for insulting bush are prejudiced to country music
Anyone heard the song "american idiot" by greenday thats insulting the country. The united states will be around a lot longer then bush and they are right they shouldnt be treated any differently. Greenday gets away with insulting the country and dixie chicks cant insult the president who wil be out in 2 to 3 years.
Wheres the fairness in that?

Feb. 16, 2007, 12:29 a.m.sorry for double posting but i cant figure out how to edit. True they shouldnt have said that in a concert but if dixie chicks are going to be treated that way for insulting someone whose only temporarily in office where as greenday insults the country then I think greenday should be banned from some radio stations. Punk rock get away with more then county? sure looks like it to me. PREJUDICE is all it is.

July 14, 2007, 2:26 a.m.71% of the country apparently agrees with the Chicks. I agreed when they said it, I agree now and I'll agree if they say it again.
I'm ashamed bush is considered a member of the human race. I'd say the same for cheney, but I'm not sure he's considered to be. If so, I'm ashamed of him too.
Could someone give him ******so we can impeach him already? Heck, if I absolutely HAVE to and it would GUARANTEE impeachment, bring it on!! I'm willing to serve my country!! Can't get more patriotic than that.
(somebody else is gonna have to volunteer for cheney, I'll throw up after bush but would have to cut my own throat if I did cheney.) hmmmm maybe we can force bush to do cheney then impeach both of them at the same time!!!
sounds like a plan!!
