There's an interesting (or, depending on your perspective, idiotic) fight underway between Mark Goldberg, a Washington, D.C.-based political reporter, and Dave Mustaine, the lead singer of Megadeth. The spat started in June 2006, after Mustaine criticized the United Nations in Billboard.

Who is Mark Goldberg? Obviously a guy trying to make a name for himself off of an "aging rock star"...

"Dont look now to israel-It might be your homelands"...

      ............

That's right Atlas, Dave penned that line 11 years before 9/11. We are not the only two who found this truly amazing.

What I find odd here is this Goldberg guy is a big lefty, and it has never been a secret that Dave is a big liberal himself.

He supported Clinton and if I am not mistaken he pushed for Gore in 2000. He used to routinely make disparaging remarks about Reagan when he was president in the mid-late 80's.

Even his remark about how he "would rather feel right than actually be right" is liberalspeak (emotionalism based on feelings rather than logic or facts).

But here he attacks the liberal leftist/socialist.

Could 9/11 have had such an impact on Dave that he switched parties? I know that's what happened to Dennis Miller. But Mustaine? He's always been a devout Democrat. It puzzles...

Megadeth, holy cow. I didn't even know that they were a band still. 15-20 years ago, I was huge fan and a huge Mustaine fan. I'll be honest, I haven't heard the song yet. I just hope Dave isn't just lashing out at government just because that's what so many people of entertainment fame like to do. Not that I agree with the current administration but people like Sean Penn and Rosie O' have no business in such an arena. They look and sound like idiots. I always thought Mustaine was a pretty intelligent guy and I'm sure he's got a legit beef. I look forward to checking out the album.

It is everyone's duty to question their government, celebrities risk their careers when they take an unpopular stance on any issue, the corporate media will do everything they can to crush them.

          Question government, fight fascism.

Dave split the band up in early 2004, and reformed in '06.

There have been several incarnations. My two favorites are the original lineup:

Mustaine; Dave(Jr.)Ellefson; Gar Samuelson(RIP); Chris Poland

and the incarnation through most of the 90's:

Mustaine; Ellefson; Marty Friedman; Nick Menza

I've seen Megadeth 5 times (that I can remember) and chatted post concert with Dave twice, Marty twice, and Dave Ellefson and Nick Menza once each. And have shook hands with all the above. Go to roadrunnerrecords.com and see if they are coming to or near your town this year. They are mounting a North America tour any time now. BTW I just saw on the roadrunner site Megadeth is having a live chat Monday 7/16 @ 7 pm EDT. But you have to sign up to get a spot. Good luck.

          Har, Har, Har!!!

Homegrown Heavy Metal vs. the Diplomatic Lightweights. I never thought I'd see this!

UN? UN who else? More at United Nitwits.

Now, when you gander at the UN facility, don't you see a simply marvelous hotel and convention center?

          Carry on, Megadeth.

"Whether my facts are right or wrong, and whether you agree with me or not, I know I have your support--most of the time and that is all that matters."

            ummmmm... yeah.

            this guy is retarded.

let me just say that if i am disagreeing with you, YOU DON'T HAVE MY SUPPORT, ALL OF THE FREAKING TIME. LMFAO in fact, i will use every conversation, remotely related to Megadeath, from here on in, as an opportunity NOT to support this guy and/or everything he stands for.

whew! glad i got that offa my chest.

            oh and megadeath SUCKS LOL

I would love to see Dave shove a guitar up the UN's a$$! Goldberg can eat sh!t. Metal and Rock have always been about pi$$ing in the governments cheerios! Anyone who doesn't understand it needs to go back and learn history of rock.

I applaud Mustaine and Megadeth (spell it right, esp. if you are gonna bash them) for taking an honest stance. If you want some foresight, listen to the old lyrics from Metallica on "And Justice For All" It all rings true (eg. "halls of justice painted green, money talking.......")

Yep, or from "Eye of the Beholder":

                    Doesn't matter what you see, or into it what you read;

                    You can do it your own way, if it's done just how I say;

                    Independence limited:

Freedom of choice: (is made FOR you, my friend)

Freedom of speech: (is words that they will bend)

                    Freedom: (with THEIR exception)

Yeah, all the old heads know there were 4 bands that were the zenith of metal in the 80's bar none.

                    The big 4 were:

                    Metallica

                    Megadeth

                    Anthrax &

                    Slayer

This is not your fathers United Nations...

I grew up believing the UN was some august gathering of peoples of the world. As children, we would fund drive for UNICEF to response to famine. It would be the UN that would face the challenges to humankind in movies.

Then reality hits. Crippled by bureaucratic corruption. Much of the UN is at the sway of self serving blocks of nations and the elite. The organization represented less the people of the world but more the large proportion of nations that were tyrannies and undemocratic. The ideology that dominates is anti-American and socialist.

Some of the work done is admirable. But when it comes to the hard issues such as peace and justice--the UN will always disappoint.

The U.N. is irrelevant in the real world. With out the strength of the United States and Britain the U.N would be irrelevant. It is time that the U.N. pays their parking tickets, packs up their skeletons and move their corrupt offices to Beijing, Moscow or Tehran and see if they enjoy the same comforts and liberties as they do in the U.S. As far as Mark Goldberg is concerned, Bill Goldberg has a better chance of making a meaningful impact on world politics. Mark Goldberg should realize right now that if he is trying to match wits with Dave Mustaine, he is completely out of his league. Mustaine made it to the top of his profession and as for Goldberg......Mark who?

I'm confused. I grew up listening to Megadeth. I've got all their tapes or cds up to Cryptic Writitngs. I kind of fell out of touch with metal 8 years ago. But recently I saw METALLICA of all people supporting Gore...what's up with that!?! All I can think is, Metallica cut all their heads of hair and turned into complete nerds. Even in the 90's I could 'kinda' tell that Lars and James had the potential of F.A.G.ging out...but man?! They support that c.o.c.k.suc.ker Gore. I hope that doesn't mean Megadeth does too. But seeing that DAVE MUSTAINE believes in the BIBLE, I think that's awesome. I'm sure in the 90's Dave nor myself did. It's cool to see my Rock favorites have mentally progessed like I have because I believe the BIBLE too. But I can't fathom a BIBLE-believer agreeing with Gore the 2nd. There is NO global warming...there's trees under Antarctica dumbassess!!!!

Dave Mustaine is an extremely intelligent person, in reply to those who may think he is a "typical doped up" musician. His choice of material for this CD is pretty pertinent. He still kicks ass as a guitarist/vocalist. He is also STILL touring and quite successful at it.

Who the F**K is this Goldberg moron????????????????????

And why is anyone giving him the time of day, or his 15 secomds of fame?
